Alright, everyone out there who's been drooling over my search engine, can now add it to their site! Yes, that's right, AnalogX CGISearch has been released, and is available in the
downloads area, network section. It's turned out quite well, and I've gotten many compliments on it's performance and ease of use, so if your webserver is running on a Windows machine, then you're in business!
Also, AnalogX TrackSeek has been updated, to version 1.13, which now includes support for searching through a proxy (it's ironic that
I would not include support for this in this first version; I know, I'm sorry), support for 6 more search engines, plus some other cosmetic changes. It's available in the
downloads area, network section as well, so make sure to grab it!

AnalogX HyperTrace got the Editor's Pick over at
WebAttack , which is cool; I guess it pays to make things small, fast, and easy to use. But don't tell any of those big companies, otherwise they might actually start making quality programs, and I'd like that to be my little secret. :)
I installed the latest version of the search engine, which does better matching that the previous (it has more of a concept of what words are, and how to find them), so it's coming along! Once again, you can access the search engine from
here, or from the menu.

I just added the test version of a CGI search engine I'll be releasing more than likely on Friday (called CGISearch, pretty original, eh?). You can check it out
here, or on the menu in the 'Mental' section... It's very similar to AltaVista (since that's my favorite search engine), and has many of the same features, such as specifying if something MUST or MUST NOT contain a certain word or phrase. If anyone has any problems with it, please make sure to let me know (and please also include the search string you were trying). Hopefully it will help to make your browsing experience here all the more enjoyable!

Have you've watched the news or picked up a newspaper even once in the past year, you've probably heard about MP3 music, and how it's all over the net. Then, if you've ever gone out and actually looked yourself, you were probably disappointed - if this stuff is all over the net, then why can't I find it? Well, with a few flicks of my magic programming wand, I've created AnalogX TrackSeek; the most powerful MP3 meta search engine in the world! While other people think they're cool because the search 8 or 9 engines, I blow them away with more than 20 - almost every single MP3 search engine online right now. Not only that, mine is fast; and forget having to use some sort of funky built in download program, mine can be sent to either your FTP program, or your browse - heck, it even has a web interface! It's available right now in the
downloads area, specifically in the Network section.

I redesigned some new graphics today, and changed the site colors to (hopefully) be more readable to people who didn't like the previous (green) color scheme. I also changed around the menus and a few other sections of the site, which increased the overall rating of the site from 6.5 to 8.5 (as evaluated by my friend John).
Who's looking over your shoulder...

For those of you who may or may not know, there is a security hole in DHCP that can be exploited to allow someone to monitor any data sent between your computer and others on the internet. This problem is particularly worrisome for people like me, who have cable connections to the net, since you're connected 24/7, which gives someone alot of time to play around. The good news is that Microsoft has a workaround which involves roaming around in your registry and creating some new keys, not usually the most safest of things to do in registry land, and their disclaimer "WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system." doesn't exactly instill confidence. So, I made a quick utility, which is available in the
downloads area (specifically in the System section), which will create or delete the registry keys, in all the correct ways and in all the correct formats, for you.

Argh! It's Friday the 13th - I sure hope the servers don't crash or anything like that! :) It's a good thing the Year 2000 doesn't come on a Friday the 13th, or we'd really be in trouble; I don't think even the best programmers in the world could fix the millennium changing on the 13th instead of the 1st... Anyway, back to the business at hand, today's release is for all you power browsers out there, and is aptly named 'AnalogX PowerBrowse'. PowerBrowse extends the functionality of the browser in a few small and interesting ways; first, if you normally browse using multiple windows, it can hide all the other windows so they don't clutter up the task bar... It also make it super-easy to switch between windows without just blindly trying to guess which is which (since it's menu lists the webpages title, just like the browser window. Overall a very handy util, which has certainly made my browsing more pleasant. It's available right now in the
downloads area, so surf over there and click your heart out...

I have successfully survived the onslaught of emails (primarily from people who didn't read the docs; but I can't really blame them since most of the time the last thing you find in the docs is an answer! heheh), and the website performed admirably considering the high load it was under; overall an excellent evening! I actually did catch one bug in NetStat Live; actually, it's more of an oversight than anything else... The bottom on the dialog goes off the screen if you're running in 640x480. I put up a quick update that allows you to access all of the buttons that would normally be visible from the menu that shows up when the program is minimized. There's also a video of the show from last night with my section on it! Since it was a phone interview, I thought 'Video for audio' was an apt name :) It's available at
The Screen Savers , just click on the 'Video' button and experience the awe and mystery again and again!
Woohoo! Going online live...
Friday, August 06, 1999 [06:14 PM PST]
Alright! Today's release is being announced and made available
LIVE on
ZDTV 's show called
The Screen Savers ! I'm chatting with Kate and Leo right now, and am giving them the inside scoop on my latest release! For those of you who aren't lucky enough to get ZDTV, call your cable company and complain! heheh...
If you want to know a little more about your internet connection than 'connected' or maybe something like '28.8k connection', then the latest AnalogX release is for you - AnalogX NetStat Live! NSL is a great utility which graphs your connection performance in a simple and easy to read fashion! It also tracing the speed to specific sites as well, to help you diagnose if any problems are on your end or on theirs. This program is a must for anyone out there who's on the internet, and let's face it, if you're reading this, then you're on it! heheh... It's available right now in the Network section of the
downloads area. Impress your family and friends by downloading this wonderful utility right now!
I'll be on ZDTV tonight...
Friday, August 05, 1999 [08:55 AM PST]
For everyone out there that get's
ZDTV , I'll be doing a phone interview with Kate and Leo on the show '
The Screen Savers ', at 6pm Pacific, so make sure to tune in! I'll be talking about my new release for today, codenamed 'AnalogX NetStat Live'! Oh, wait a minute, that's not a codename, that's the programs name... Hmmm, ok, I'll be talking about NSL instead! In keeping with the spirit of the show, which is live, I'm going to try to update the site with the new release while I'm on the show... While this wouldn't normally be that daring, my internet connection has been questionable at best lately, so it will certainly be a gamble :)
Another installer update...
Wednesday, August 04, 1999 [09:20 AM PST]
This is just a quick update... I made another improvement to the installer, so that it now installs all of the programs in their own sub-directory. It also now creates sub-groups on the Start Menu as well, for everyone who installs loads of my programs. I also put the installer on a couple of the older programs on the site, so that people who like them can 'vote' by registering - that's the only way I know what programs are popular, and which ones aren't! If you already have any of the programs installed, there's no reason to download the updated installer, it's just for all your next downloads :)
